NYPD Sergeant Thorn Savage is aboard Queen Mary 2 as she sails from New York on a scheduled  transatlantic voyage. Also on board is a man who holds the key to lasting peace in the Mideast.  But, terrorists have created an ingenious two-pronged plot to prevent that man from ever arriving. Therefore, the grand ship, all her passengers and the entire crew must die. By destroying and sinking the QM2 on the high seas, loss of life greater than the 9/11 destruction of the Twin Towers will have been effected, and hopes for world peace again thrown back into chaos.
Finding himself trapped in the horrendous and seemingly hopeless situation, Savage must outwit and defeat the highly organized and fanatic Jihadists. But, can a ruthless gang of well-armed terrorists be stopped by one cunning, crusty... and ballsy New York cop?

To Kill a Queen The Thorn Savage NYPD Series Book 5 edition by John Mackie Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks

I've read all of Mackie's books, and being former NYPD enjoyed them for their authenticity. I was very disappointed when I thought he stopped writing a few years ago as no new Savage books appeared. Much to my surprise I read a glowing review in Crime Spree magazine of John Mackie's latest, To Kill a Queen, and bought it immediately.

Mackie took a chance departing from his familiar area of operation, New York City, and his usual cast of characters, but his risk was worth it. This scrupulously researched thriller was a page turner and proved that Savage could be a star on his own. It certainly opened new areas for him in which to operate, but I suspect we'll see him back in the Apple for at least the next book (and I hope there is one).

Welcome back, John.

To Kill a Queen The Thorn Savage NYPD Series Book 5 edition by John Mackie Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews

I love these Thorn Savage books and would have given this 5 stars except for one annoying character, a security man stereotype who should have been left out of the book altogether. But that's minor. This is an interesting, well-researched story that gives you all you want in a novel. Entertainment. It's well worth the money and if you haven't read the earlier books, definitely do so.
Great book - I couldn't put it down. I kept saying to myself "just one more chapter and I will go get some chores done". But I actually only put it down when I got a low battery signal on my kindle!

I read all of John Mackie's books about NYPD during my vacation in Florida this year. His stories are fascinating and really hold one's attention. I enjoyed all immensely and in particular the last about the terrorists and the Queen Mary 2.

I would look forward to any additional books in the series if there are to be any.
To Kill a Queen (The Thorn Savage NYPD Series)

The story line was excellent and, as fiction goes, believable. Just hope terrorists don't use it as a blueprint! The story falters a bit at the end, but leaves one wanting to know the next step in Savage's life. Who will be the woman in his life?! Will he continue as a detective in the NYPD? Inquiring minds want to know.........
I did a transatlantic crossing on the Queen Mary 2 a few years ago, and a cruise on the Queen Victoria last December. I thought this story would be "fun" since I had a familiarity with the principal locale. It started a little slowly, and I wondered if I'd chosen badly. Then, things started to move, and I could not put it down. I finished it late Thursday - well, early Friday. I recommend it to those who know the ship and to those who would like to.
I am glad to see the author is back on the scene and writing again. I have read all of his books in this series and enjoyed them. I was surprised to see the main character involved in a maritime adventure and not in New York City. The story has an easy flow with good character development and of course follows excellent police procedure. I was sorry when it ended and hope the author will continue the series. Who knows--Sergeant Savage might even be promoted (lieutenant) and get command of his own detective squad. But, he will have to first regain his physical condition and avoid being medically retired. A definate good read! PS Do not keep us waiting too long for your next book.
John has hit another out of the park with this latest Thorn Savage novel. I certainly hope there are many more to follow. Thorn Savage is a well developed character as are his cohorts (who are not real players in this book) I love the character development and carry forward to new books. The scenario for To Kill a Queen is entirely believable and the outcome while never really in doubt is well concealed until the end. Read all the Thorn Savage books - in order is best but not required - you will love the stories.
